Welcome to my hockey blog.
The inspiration to start this blog came from reading Adrian Daters book, Blood Fued. If you love hockey I suggest picking up a copy, its a great read. I couldn’t put it down despite the fact that I should have been studying for midterms.
Anyhow, Dater has a chapter on the Detroit Red Wing’s legendary coach Scotty Bowman. He describes Bowman’s habit of reading every article from every teams local paper after each NHL game. This is one of the things that made him a great coach; he knew about every player in the league. I decided it would be awesome to attempt to follow the league like Bowman did. I am calling it the Bowman Challenge.
Check back every day for information and reflections on each game from the previous night, as well as player reference pages with up to date info on players as they establish themselves in the league. Overall this site is dedicated to providing information, more than anything else.
Debs! This is a great idea, and quite the challenge you’ve given yourself! :) You are fantastic!
Deborah,
Your commitment to NHL is extraordinarily impressive. In particular, I am amazed by your ability to dedicate your spritely zest to one item when so many other pulls that could. potentially, get in the way. One pull that I’m delighted has not gotten in the way of your love for extra-curricular activity is…your job!
A job is just a means of making ends meet. Some consider it a crucial element of survival; no job, no money. No money, no food. No food…no Debs! :-o Others however, have recognized, as you have, that your job is not the ‘be all and end all’. Let’s face it, who’s going to care if you don’t go in at all?
It’s so refreshing to find someone with their priorities perfectly aligned.
Keep up the great work…you’re an asset!
Luke,
“spritely zest” makes me sound like a can of sprite. I’m glad that my dedication to the higher good of hockey is an inspiration to you. It’s great to know what an asset I am. Oh by the way, can I have next week off? I’m flying to Denver. It’s blog related, but can I take the company Jet?
