About
About This Site:

I am an aspiring professional hockey writer. I promise, you will never find blog posts where I simply bloviate about the NHL. I work hard to establish contacts within the league and aim to provide you with original and accurate information that the average hockey blog cannot provide. If you love hockey, then chances are, you will enjoy my blog.
About the Author:
Deborah “Debs” Francisco is currently a staff writing intern for the Pittsburgh Penguins. Her articles regularly appear in the Penguins game day program, Ice Time, and on PittsburghPenguins.com. She has written for InsideHockey.com, MVN.com and Patrol Magazine’s sports blog, No Crying in Sports. She is a junior at The King’s College in New York City where she studies Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PP&E) with a concentration in media. As a sophomore, she interned at Madison Square Garden, home of the New York Rangers, in the new media department.
Her love for hockey started at age 12 when her older brothers finally sat down to watch a Colorado Avalanche game with her and patiently taught her the rules of the game. The first NHL game she attended was a heated rivalry tilt between the Avalanche and the Red Wings at the Pepsi Center. Shortly after discovering her love for the game, she became the Los Alamos Monitor’s beat writer for the Hilltoppers’ ice-hockey team from 2002-2005. The Monitor eventually hired her as a freelance sportswriter. She started playing hockey herself in an adult pick-up league in Santa Fe, New Mexico in the summer of 2007. Currently she lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
